The Facts About Representative Rodney Pierce's Record
Recently, our opponent has launched a website making several claims about Representative Rodney Pierce's record. We believe voters deserve the truth. Here are the facts, backed by official sources and public records.
Our opponent just sent a faith attack mailer claiming Rep. Pierce "voted against In God We Trust." This is a cynical attempt to use God's name for political gain. Pierce is a man of deep faith who voted his conscience.
Read the full response →House Bill 50 (LEO Special Separation Allowance Options) was co-sponsored by Representative Rodney Pierce and signed into law as Session Law 2025-8 on June 13, 2025.
In his first year in office, Representative Pierce has already delivered real results for our community. HB 50 helps the brave men and women in law enforcement who serve and protect our families. For a first-term legislator, having a co-sponsored bill signed into law is a significant accomplishment.
Representative Pierce has also co-sponsored multiple other bills moving through the legislature, including HB 37 (Enhance Firefighter Benefits), HB 94 (Disabled Veteran Homestead Exclusion), and HB 97 (Support Firefighters Fighting Cancer). For HB 97, Representative Pierce offered an amendment to include "colon cancer" as one of the cancers covered by the firefighter death benefits. His amendment was unanimously adopted 107-0. These bills will benefit District 27 families when they become law.
The actual number is 68.17%—and there's nothing wrong with that. The NC Legislature tracks "voting with the majority," which includes bipartisan votes on bills that help our community.
In a Republican-controlled legislature, passing legislation that benefits District 27 requires working across the aisle. Representative Pierce has done exactly that—co-sponsoring bipartisan bills that help law enforcement, firefighters, and veterans. He does have something to show for it: House Bill 50, signed into law as Session Law 2025-8. That's not "voting with Republicans"; that's doing the job voters elected him to do.
When our opponent served in the NC House (2023-2024 session), he voted with the majority 84.6% of the time, and voted with them more than actual Republicans (91% of the time in 2021-22 session). If he's going to vote with the majority like that, why not run as a Republican?

Our opponent can't even get his lies straight. Representative Pierce has never attended a ribbon cutting at Littleton Academy, which is a private school, and has never been a charter. He's confusing two completely different schools:
The real question is: Where was our opponent on the morning when his alma mater, Northeast Academy, was recognized for winning a state title? Representative Pierce was there, doing his job as a representative—honoring student athletes from District 27. That's what representatives do: they show up for their communities.
Attending a ribbon cutting or presenting a resolution doesn't mean Representative Pierce supports diverting hundreds of millions of dollars from public schools through voucher programs. Pierce believes in supporting all educational opportunities in District 27, but he will always fight for our public schools first. Our opponent is desperately trying to create a controversy where none exists because he can't run on his own record.

North Carolina Governor Josh Stein has endorsed Representative Rodney Pierce for re-election.
Governor Josh Stein's endorsement speaks volumes about Representative Pierce's character, effectiveness, and commitment to the people of District 27. Gov. Stein knows that Pierce is a principled leader and called him "an effective voice for his district and for rural communities across the state."

This election will determine whether Republicans gain a veto-proof supermajority in North Carolina.
District 27 is the last line of defense. Representative Pierce is fighting to protect our community and ensure that Governor Stein has the power to stop extreme legislation. This isn't just about one seat—it's about the future of North Carolina.
"When state lawmakers wanted to display 'IN GOD WE TRUST' on the dais of the State House, Rodney Pierce voted NO."
Yes, Representative Pierce voted "No" on HB 16. He did so not out of a lack of faith, but because of it.
As a man of deep faith, Representative Pierce believes that the name of God should be revered and protected from being used as a political tool. His vote reflects a deeply held conviction that displaying the motto in a government chamber, where political battles are fought daily, risks trivializing its sacred meaning. It's worth noting that Section 2 of HB 16 specifies that a private entity or individual would have paid for the work instead of state taxpayer money—but the principle remains the same: using God's name for political purposes.
True faith is lived through actions—like fighting for jobs, healthcare, and justice for the people of District 27—not through symbolic, state-mandated displays. Representative Pierce honors God through his service to our community, not by putting His name on a government wall.
